Unemployment rate in Germany remained unchanged in March, a report from the Federal Statistical Office showed Wednesday.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was at 5.6 percent in March, the same as that of February. However, the rate was 0.6 percentage points lower than a year earlier.
The number of unemployed was about 2.31 million in March, which was 418,000 or 15.4 percent less than in March 2011. Compared to February, the number of persons out of work declined 7.2 percent.
A total of 41.2 million persons were in employment in March, which was 572,000 more than a year earlier. In February, there were 41.1 million employed persons in Germany.
The seasonally adjusted employment rate rose marginally to 63.3 percent from 63.2 in February.
