GL Academy Hellas is offering on 4 and 5 April 2012, a two-day workshop which aims to provide knowledge to those designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Search and Rescue On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) for a search and rescue incident on board any kind of vessel or ship in the initial phases of the incident, as defined in the International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue Manual (IAMSAR), Volume III. The focus is on implementation of different measures in order to complete the situation “on scene” and to get the situation controlled as quickly as possible during the actual incident

Seminar Objective:    

According to the new the Manila Amendments to the International Convention on STCW 1978, the contents of the IAMSAR Manual will be mandatory training for masters, chief mates and officers in charge of ships of 500 GT or more, or on ships of less than 500 GT engaged on near-coastal voyages.  
Those who successfully complete this course will be able to undertake the initial duties and responsibilities of an On-Scene Coordinator in the case of any foreseeable SAR incident as defined in IAMSAR, Volume III
