Imabari concerned about strong yen

Imabari Shipbuilding Group, including its affiliated eight yards, recorded a total of 96 newbuilding deliveries in 2011, down by five over the previous year, but the Japanese conglomerate is confident that it will deliver more ships this year.
Bulks accounted for 88% of last year’s deliveries, with particular focus on 38,000, 61,000 and 95,000 dwt ships. For this year Imabari said it was concerned about all the ships it had contracted in US dollars, which translates poorly against the current strong yen.
