MSC announces rationalisation of ISES & I-Med services

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has decided to rationalise and merge its India Subcontinent-Europe (ISES) and India Subcontinent-Med (l-Med) services, the Company press release said.
Accordingly, MSC will upgrade the capacity of the ISES service by deploying 6.500-TEU vessels and will continue to cover the Mediterranean ports cargo via Gioia Tauro.
This will give its customers much wider coverage and quicker connectivity to the Mediterranean ports.
The new rotation will be Colombo. Nhava Sheva, Mundra. Salalah. Gioia Tauro, Felixsiowe, Hamburg. Antwerp. Gioia Tauro, Colombo.
The first sailing of the new ISES service will be with the SCI Chennai on April 7, 2012 from Colombo. MSC has demonstrated its continued commitment to the Indian trade with this enhanced service, stressed an official release.
MSC hikes rates on Canada-S.Africa, S.A-USA trade
MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will implement a General Rate Increase (GRI) on all export cargo southbound from Canada to South Africa and northbound from South Africa to the USA, effective August 1st, 2012 as follows:
