Jaya confirms IHC Merwede interest

Jaya Holdings has confirmed that IHC Merwede is in talks to acquire the Southeast Asian shipbuilder and vessel operator.
“The company has previously received an expression of interest from IHC Merwede to acquire certain of the company’s assets. As at the date hereof, no definitive agreements have been entered into in relation to the sale of such assets,” Jaya said in a statement to the Singapore Exchange.
A report by analysts CIMB said an offer S$0.65 per share was likely to be made by IHC.
IHC set up in Singapore late last year and ceo Denis Welch told Seatrade Asia Week in December it planned to acquire a yard in Southeast Asia.
Jaya has yards in Singapore and Batam, Indonesia.
