Japanese steel exports fell by 13pct YoY in February - JISF

According to statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation, Japan's February 2012 steel exports totaled 3.225 million tonnes in February 2012, decreasing by 13.2% YoY, affected by appreciated Japanese Yen and debt crisis in euro zone.
In February 2012, South Korea was the largest importer of Japanese steel with 664,000 tonnes, decreasing by 14.4% YoY; China was the second largest one with 524,000 tonnes, down by 14.8% YoY; Thailand was the third largest one with 353,000 tonnes, falling by 7.4% YoY and Taiwan was the fourth largest one with 247,000 tonnes, declining by 21.7% YoY.
In addition, the country's export values of steel in February amounted to USD 3.87 billion, down by 6% YoY, decreasing for consecutive four months.
