Italy Dec. Industrial Orders Fall Less Than Expected

Italy's industrial new orders decreased less than economists expected in December, data released by statistical office Istat showed Monday.
New orders received by Italian industries deceased 4.3 percent on an annual basis in December, slower than the 5.6 percent fall economists forecast.
Month-on-month, new orders increased a seasonally adjusted 5.5 percent in December, while economists were looking for a 0.6 percent growth. New orders in the domestic market rose 5.8 percent month-on-month, while turnover in the non-domestic market advanced 5.1 percent.
In the three-months ended December, industrial orders decreased on average 3.9 percent from the previous three months.
At the same time, turnover in the industrial sector rose a calendar adjusted 5.6 percent in December. Month-on-month, turnover rose a seasonally adjusted 3.4 percent during the month.
