South Korea’s coal imports up 3.8% in January

South Korea’s coal imports rose by 3.8% in January to 10.71Mt from 10.32Mt a year ago, according to customs data.
The country’s main foreign source of coal was Australia which imported some 3.762Mt at an average price of US$161.01/t. Indonesia shipped a further 3.237Mt at US$96.46/t while Canada and South Africa each delivered around 1.05Mt. Smaller volumes originated in Russia (0.967Mt), the US (0.415Mt), China (0.199Mt) and Malaysia (22,000t).
