Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa on Monday said the central bank will continue powerful monetary easing until 1 percent inflation is foreseen.
Shirakawa told lawmakers that his views on the new price goal was in line with that of Finance Minister Jun Azumi. He reiterated that bank's inflation goal is similar in nature to the U.S. Federal Reserve's 2 percent inflation target.
Last week, Shirakawa said that the inflation rate still has a long way to go before it reaches the 1 percent goal.
