Booming trade between Hellas and the Far East prompts Hanjin to offer new service says Antonios Veni

Hanjin is now participating in the new direct service from Far East to Greece announced by the CKHY Alliance. Venmar Shipping, headed by Mr.Β Antonios Venieris acting at the agent of Hanjin in Hellas, provided Hellenic Shipping News with the

insight of Hanjin?s decision, as well as the broader strategy of the South Korean conglomerate regarding its activities in the Hellenic market.

Which will be the exact role of Venmar in the new service?

VenMar Shipping S.A. is the agent of Hanjin Shipping in Greece since 2001. Hanjin Shipping made its entrance in the Greek market with the Greece ? USA service lane, with remarkable results for a newcomer even from its first year of operation. Later on, the services offered expanded in Greece-Far East trade lane and Greece-Arab Gulf ? Far East trade lane. Now the time has come for Hanjin to make its presence even stronger in our local market by offering a direct service from Far East to Greece and vice versa. VenMar?s role is to make sure that all operations will go smoothly and the services offered to customers of this new line will be in the usual high standards of Hanjin Shipping. Which ports will the new service include and when will it begin? The new service named GIX (Greece Israel Express) includes 5 base ports in the Far East region, namely Shekou, Nigbo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. Through these base ports all other destinations and origins are served through the expanded feedering network of Hanjin Shipping. From Singapore, the vessels call at Ashod in Israel and then in Piraeus and Thessaloniki. The first vessel of this new line has arrived in Piraeus in 10th of June and the line will have a weekly frequency.
What are the benefits of the new service for customers?
The Far East-Greece trade is booming and there is always lack of available space for importers. Surely the addition of a new line in this specific leg, will add much desired space. Further to the obvious, the schedule of this line has been well planned and offers fast transit time to Greek exporters, as the vessels call directly Singapore after departing from Thessaloniki. This fact in conjunction with the competitive pricing in imports and exports can provide high level of services in our local market.
How difficult is it for a company as Hanjin to establish an image of reliability and responsibility when it comes to partnering with well known shipping companies in Greece, like COSCO, K-Line and Yang Ming?
Hanjin Shipping is one of the ten largest liner shipping companies in the world and besides liner shipping, Hanjin group of companies activates in shipbuilding, port management and development, bulk shipping, air transportation and oil trading.
Hanjin is a conglomerate with vast experience and know how in shipping in general.
In the Transpacific trade and all Far East trades, Hanjin Shipping has a leading role and in the last 10 years, Hanjin is built a good reputation in the Mediterranean and European markets.
In Greece, Hanjin is a familiar name to our local market and for many customers one of the top choices for their cargoes. Since 2001, we have managed to establish Hanjin
as a reliable partner to Greek exporters and importers so the addition of a direct service can only boost further the image of Hanjin.
