Marine piling works off Jurong Island
Friday, September 13, 2019, Singapore

From 30 September 2019 to 28 February 2020, marine piling works will be conducted off Jurong Island.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.084 of 2019, the works will be carried out between 0800 and 2200 hours daily, including Sundays & Public Holidays, within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01 deg. 17.371’N / 103 deg. 43.477’E
2) 01 deg. 17.381’N / 103 deg. 43.511’E
3) 01 deg. 17.327’N / 103 deg. 43.572’E
4) 01 deg. 17.302’N / 103 deg. 43.526’E

Marine piling works will be carried out with the use of crane barges. Tug boats will be used to tow the crane barges into position. A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other vessels of the work.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear of the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 25 (Pasir Panjang Control);
and
e) Communicate with Pasir Panjang Control on VHF Channel 25 for assistance, if required.

Port Condition X-Ray set

At 4pm yesterday (12 September), the U.S. Coast Guard, Sector Miami, has set Port Condition X-Ray at Miami River, Miami, Port Everglades, Palm Beach, Ft. Pierce and all remaining terminals and facilities within its area of responsibility.

This is in anticipation of a disturbance in the Bahamas developing into a Tropical depression or Tropical Storm within the next 48 hours.

Installation of Eco-shoreline at Tuen Mun
Friday, September 13, 2019, Hong Kong

For approximately one month, marine works involving installation of eco-shoreline will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 22.366’N / 113 deg. 57.749’E
(B) 22 deg. 22.334’N / 113 deg. 57.749’E
(C) 22 deg. 22.334’N / 113 deg. 57.673’E
(D) 22 deg. 22.364’N / 113 deg. 57.673’E

The works will be carried out by one derrick lighter. One tugboat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 15 metres around the derrick lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the derrick lighter.

A silt curtain fitted with yellow flashing lights will be established within the works area. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Diving operations will be carried out from time to time during the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear of the works area at slow speed, bearing in mind there are divers working in the area.

Marine surveys at Black Point Power Station

For approximately one month, marine surveys involving hydrographic and marine geophysical surveys will be carried out within the following areas:

WORKS AREA 1
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D):
(A) 22 deg. 26.752’N / 113 deg. 53.996’E
(B) 22 deg. 25.333’N / 113 deg. 55.063’E
(C) 22 deg. 25.316’N / 113 deg. 55.005’E
(D) 22 deg. 26.724’N / 113 deg. 53.946’E

WORKS AREA 2
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (E) to (H):
(E) 22 deg. 25.652’N / 113 deg. 54.852’E
(F) 22 deg. 25.481’N / 113 deg. 55.039’E
(G) 22 deg. 24.476’N / 113 deg. 53.978’E
(H) 22 deg. 24.647’N / 113 deg. 53.790’E

The surveys will be carried out by one survey boat and one work boat.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around the survey boat will be established. Yellow marker buoy fitted with yellow flashing light will be laid to mark the position of the anchor extending from the survey boat.

The hours of work will be round-the-clock.

Vessels engaged in the surveys will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and at slow speed.

Channel re-opened after protest

Following the closure of the Houston Ship Channel yesterday (12 September) due to protesters on the Fred Hartman Bridge, operations in the Channel were resumed at 04.30 hours local time today (13 September).
