Scandlines Group further strengthens its freight-based route network to the Baltic States. As of January 20, 2010 the company offers a new combined freight / passenger service from Travemünde to Ventspils.
"The Port of Travemünde has a very interesting location with excellent
access to and from the Western European market. This combined with
Travemünde's intermodal capabilities and hub function will further
strengthen our cross Baltic route network with a strong second leg",
says Søren Poulsgaard Jensen, COO Freight Based Network at Scandlines.
Scandlines operates its new service with the RoPax-vessel Urd offering
a capacity for 186 passengers as well as 1,598 lane metres for freight.
The new service will initially have two weekly departures per direction.
The new service will be improved with a second RoPax-vessel as soon as appropriate tonnage is available.
