STX Shipbuilding Wins Orders to Build 2 Oil Tankers |

 The South Korean shipbuilder will build oil tankers measuring 183 meters in length, 32.2 meters in width and 19.1 meters in height, cruising at 15.2 knot. The two vessels, expected to be constructed at its Jinhae shipyard, are to be delivered by 2012.
Coming into this year, STX Shipbuilding has been actively receiving
orders to build four 57,300 ton bulk carriers from Turkish ship owners
(including two carriers in option); and two 81,000 ton bulk carriers
from European ship owners (including one carriers in option).
STX Shipbuilding said that the company has been winning new orders to
build merchant ships namely bulk carriers and tankers since the
beginning of the year contrary to the previous year when the
shipbuilding industry suffered from dwindling orders. The South Korean
shipbuilder is committed to engage in active marketing activities to
reinvent itself as the new leader of the market when shipbuilding
economy rebounds.
