South Africa’s Transnet carries record volume of coal to main export terminal

South Africa’s Transnet carried a record 7.46 million tonnes of coal to the Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) in August, compared with a previous monthly high of 6.9 million tonnes, the freight utility said.

Coal exports through South Africa’s main coal export terminal fell 3.7 percent to 72.6 million tonnes last year. RBCT said in January it aims to raise exports to 77 million tonnes in 2017.
