Alaska Maritime Prevention & Response Network, Alaska Chadux Corp. to Share Leadership

The Alaska Maritime Prevention & Response Network (Network) and the Alaska Chadux Corporation (Chadux) announced today that the two organizations will share leadership in a drive to improve oil pollution response and coordination across Alaska. Network President and CEO Norman “Buddy” Custard has assumed the role of General Manager of Chadux in addition to his current role, and will oversee both organizations.

“This transition will be seamless for our respective members, and will reinforce both organizations’ commitment to protecting Alaska’s maritime environment,” Mr. Custard said. “Both the Network and Chadux remain focused on supporting oil spill compliance and response needs as we move forward to create stronger, more efficient organizations to serve our members and our state.”

“For years, Buddy has demonstrated a deep understanding of the issues facing the Alaska maritime community, and we are pleased to see him expand his work through his new position,” Network Board Chairman Mike Moore said. “Combining resources and talents will streamline both organizations, allowing the Network and Chadux to invest more to increase our oil spill prevention and response capabilities to protect the Alaska coastal marine environment.”

“Our mutual business missions are intrinsically linked in providing oil spill prevention and response services to Alaskans and the companies we serve that operate in the Last Frontier,” Chadux Board President Jeff Savage said. “Buddy has the full support of the Chadux Board of Directors in his new role, and we are confident that his leadership will allow us to continue fulfilling our mission and improve our services through alignment and efficiencies.”

The Alaska Maritime Prevention & Response Network is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit corporation founded to pioneer the development and implementation of Alternative Compliance Programs that achieve OPA 90 compliance for non-tank vessels and tank vessels that operate in Western Alaska. Founded in 1993, the Alaska Chadux Corporation is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation comprised of 60 member companies dedicated to oil spill incident planning and response. Chadux operates the only fully-equipped and dedicated oil spill response vessels based in Kodiak and Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
