Algeria tenders to buy a nominal 50,000 tonnes wheat

Algeria’s state grains agency OAIC has issued an international tender to buy soft milling wheat to be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Tuesday.

The tender sought a nominal 50,000 tonnes but Algeria often buys considerably more in its tenders than the nominal volume sought.

The tender deadline is Feb. 14, they said.

Offers must remain valid until Feb. 15.

The wheat is sought for shipment in two periods, March 16-31 and April 1-15.

South American origins can be loaded earlier, between March 1-15 and March 16-31.

In its last reported wheat tender on Jan. 25 the OAIC purchased around 200,000-250,000 tonnes of durum wheat.

On Jan. 9 the OAIC bought around 550,000 tonnes of milling wheat.
