AMS makes new appointments in response to increased North Sea activity

Marine consulting and safety specialists AMS Global Group is continuing its ongoing programme of growth with the addition of two new members of staff who have joined the company in response to a continuing increase in activity in the North Sea and beyond.

Kevin Smith has joined the team as DP & Mission Critical Equipment Consultant while Vitaliy Kornev joins as Bulk Cargo Surveyor. The appointments are the latest in a series which AMS has made in recent months to support expansion across its divisions.

As part of the Marine Technical division, Kevin will provide consultancy support and project manage various multi-discipline client contracts.

Previous roles included 17 years in the Royal Navy serving as a Marine Engineering Artificer on nuclear submarines. Since then, he has worked as a Principal Consultant Engineer for a number of marine clients. Kevin is accredited by industry body IMCA as a DP Trials and Assurance Practitioner.

“We’re delighted that Kevin has joined AMS Global Group,” said Marine Director Gary Bruce. “It was very important for us to bring together an in-house DP team at AMS to ensure we can provide our clients with the best possible service.

“Recent additions to the in house team means our clients can be assured that AMS can provide for all their DP needs, from initial FMEAs, proving trials through to annual DP trails and FMEA reviews.

“Our membership of IMCA and our accredited IMCA DP team confirms AMS’ commitment to delivering best practice across our marine contracting activities.”

Vitaliy’s appointment will add to AMS’s team of bulk specialists as the division continues to expand.

“Vitaliy joins the company at a very exciting and busy time as we continue to grow our bulk cargo surveying capability in various regions,” said Gary. “An MCA Marpol registered surveyor who has previously managed various overseas bulk cargo operations, Vitaliy brings with him a wealth of experience to the AMS bulk cargo team. “

AMS is now actively recruiting for additional roles across the company. In May, the company expanded into the Mediterranean when it opened a hub in Malta in partnership with integrated logistics support and services group Medserv plc.
