Asian Marine Casualty Forum primed for record attendance for its third edition

The Asian Marine Casualty Forum (AMCF) has received unprecedented levels of support – over 500 registered delegates and 33 sponsors – for the two-day event at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre on 11 and 12 April 2019. Organised biennially by LOC since 2015, the overwhelming response for the third edition of AMCF validates its position as the premier gathering for the marine casualty industry as well as a cornerstone event during the Singapore Maritime Week.

Set against the backdrop of a recent spate of marine casualties around the world, AMCF carries more significance than ever as it brings together world-leading specialists to discuss and debate the many consequences arising from such casualties and how the industry is coping. The cruise ship Viking Sky, bulk carrier Solomon Trader, Ro-Ro container vessel Grande America, container ship Yantian Express, car carrier Sincerity Ace and cable/pipe layer vessel Star Centurian are but some of the casualties which have made headlines over the past year.

Jonathan Walker, Regional Chairman (Asia Pacific) of LOC, says: “We are heartened by the support from the forum sponsors and forum supporters who continue to make AMCF a truly unique, not-for-profit event that allows industry practitioners – many of whom are coming from far and wide – to listen, learn, share knowledge and experiences, and participate in the debates which will address the many challenges faced when casualties occur.”

Asian Marine Casualty Forum 2019 is held in conjunction with the Singapore Maritime Week 2019 (SMW). SMW is the leading maritime event in Singapore driven by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. SMW gathers the international maritime community in Singapore for a week of conferences, dialogues, exhibitions and social events in celebration of all things maritime. These events reflect the vibrancy and diversity of Singapore as a major international maritime centre.
