China’s LNG imports set to end 2018 on a new high
China’s LNG imports are likely to have hit a record high for the second consecutive month in December, with the country’s biggest importers having maxed out capacity at some of their terminals to meet burgeoning gas demand throughout 2018.
Ship-tracking data suggests that China – the world’s second-largest LNG buyer after Japan – imported 6.5 mt of LNG in December. Estimates from Chinese analysts are more subdued, ranging from 6.05-6.15 mt.
