Chinese shares close mixed Monday

Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.14 percent to 3,240.73 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.34 percent lower at 12,018.16 points.

Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 845.8 billion yuan (about 123.1 billion U.S. dollars), lower than 929.2 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Stocks related to hotel and catering, as well as oil and gas exploitation led the gains, while shares related to cloud games and precious metal suffered losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.37 percent to close at 2,630.51 points.
