DNV GL Superyacht Seminar at Monaco Yacht Show 2019

Following the successful seminar in June at the Yacht Club de Monaco, DNV GL hosted another during the Monaco Yacht Show 2019, with three informative presentations to superyacht managers, captains and other industry professionals.

‘Underwater Safety’ saw DNV GL experts, Jonathan Struwe and Dr Stephan Hinz describing the deepest ever sea trials, where the DNV GL classed manned submarine descended to the deepest point in the ocean (nearly 11km) – with Jonathan Struwe aboard.

‘Additive Manufacturing’ – also known as 3D printing – is a process that, according to DNV GL expert Simon Ratcliffe, will revolutionise the way parts, objects and even whole vessels will be designed and manufactured. His dynamic presentation saw delegates get up-to-date with latest technology and future possibilities, including local manufacturing saving huge amounts in transportation of superyacht spare parts and more.

‘Sailing Towards Sustainability’ was the topic that Water Revolution Foundation’s Vienna Eleuteri introduced to round off the morning, with explanations of ambitious goals to shake up the way superyachts are built and operated. Scientifically driven, Water Revolution Foundation has already got the buy-in of a number of top builders and designers.
