Considered the Green Route of world maritime commerce, the Panama Canal will contribute to the efforts of nations around the world, the industry, and the maritime industry to reduce greenhouse gases.
Since the beginning of operations of the Neopanamax Locks,
the Panama Canal has reduced more than 50 million tons of CO2.
This is equivalent to the CO2 emissions from 10.6 million passenger vehicles driven for one year 5.6 billion gallons of gasoline consumed and 6.4 trillion smartphone charged.
