Financial investors switch to net short position in Euronext wheat
Non-commercial market participants switched to a net short position in Euronext’s milling wheat futures and options in the week to July 5,data published by Euronext on Wednesday showed.
Non-commercial participants, which include investment funds and financial institutions, switched to a net short position of 9,070 contracts from a net long position of 3,771 contracts a week earlier, the data showed.
Commercial participants switched to a net long position of 3,150 contracts from a net short position of 7,074 contracts a week earlier.
Commercials’ short positions accounted for 52.6% of the total short positions, while commercial long positions accounted for 53.68% of total long positions.
Non-commercial short positions represented 47.38% of total short positions, while non-commercial net long positions accounted for 46.32% of the total longs.
In Euronext’s rapeseed futures and options, non-commercial market participants switched to a net long position of 18,234 contracts from a net short position of 1,321 contracts a week earlier.
Commercial participants switched to a net short position in rapeseed to 13,847 contracts from a net long position of 5,588 contracts a week earlier.
