Freight handling by Estonian ports in July grows almost 19 pct on year

Estonian ports handled slightly over 3.5 million tons of freight in July 2021, 18.8 percent more than during the same month the year before.

Loading of cargoes increased by 11.3 percent to 2.2 million tons. Unloading of cargoes meanwhile grew by as much as 33.4 percent on year to over 1.3 million tons, figures published by Statistics Estonia show.

During the first seven months of the year more than 23.3 million tons of cargoes passed through Estonian ports. Cargoes loaded amounted to over 15.8 million tons and cargoes unloaded to nearly 7.5 million tons.

During 2020, Estonian ports handled 37.6 million tons of freight, 0.1 percent more than in 2019. Loading of cargoes decreased by 3 percent year over year to 24.6 million tons and goods loaded accounted for slightly less than two-thirds of the freight volume of ports. Unloading of cargoes meanwhile grew by 6.7 percent year over year to 13.1 million tons.
