HD KSOE, Hanwha Ocean Win Orders for Two Very Large LPG Carriers Each
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), which is in charge of the shipbuilding division of HD Hyundai, announced on Nov. 18 that it had signed a construction contract with an Asian shipping company for two very large liquefied petroleum gas carriers (VLGCs).
The total order amount is 340.3 billion won. The two VLGCs ordered this time will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered by December 2027.
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has so far won orders for a total of 177 ships (including one offshore plant) worth $19.77 billion, achieving 146.4% of its annual order target of $13.5 billion. In particular, with this order, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries also achieved its annual order target, with all shipbuilding affiliates exceeding 100% of their order targets.
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering’s orders by ship type include 8 LNG carriers, 7 LNG bunkering vessels, 62 petrochemical product carriers (PC ships), 50 LPG/ammonia carriers, 24 container ships, 3 ethane carriers, 2 liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, 6 very large crude carriers (VLCCs), 7 tankers, 2 car carriers (PCTCs), 1 floating gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU), 1 offshore plant, and 4 special ships.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Ocean also announced on the same day that it had signed an order contract with an Asian shipowner for two very large VLGCs. The order amount is 333.3 billion won, and the contract end date is November 2027.
