Wednesday, May 1, 2019, Hong Kong

From 1 May 2019 and for approximately 6 weeks, marine works involving installation of eco-shoreline features on the seawalls will be carried out in the following works areas at Sai Kung.

WORKS AREA 1
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 23.084’N / 114 deg. 16.627’E
(B) 22 deg. 23.103’N / 114 deg. 16.649’E
(C) 22 deg. 23.083’N / 114 deg. 16.670’E
(D) 22 deg. 23.063’N / 114 deg. 16.647’E

WORKS AREA 2
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (E) to (H) and the adjacent shoreline:
(E) 22 deg. 23.017’N / 114 deg. 16.566’E
(F) 22 deg. 22.999’N / 114 deg. 16.590’E
(G) 22 deg. 22.969’N / 114 deg. 16.564’E
(H) 22 deg. 22.988’N / 114 deg. 16.540’E

The eco-shoreline features will be installed on the seawalls for approximately 24 months.

The works will be carried out by one dumb lighter. One tugboat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 15 metres around the lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighter.

Silt curtains extending from the sea surface to the seabed will be established within the works areas. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the extent of the silt curtains.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works areas outside the hours of work.

Diving operations will be carried out from time to time during the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear of the works areas at slow speed, bearing in mind there are divers working in the works areas.
