Works at Tuas Terminal Phase 2

The job scope and area for works at Tuas Terminal Phase 2 have been revised.

According to the Marıtıme and Port Authorıty of Sıngapore Port Marıne Notıce No.046 of 2019, the work is being conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – until 23 November, within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

The soil investigation works will entail borehole drilling, seabed surface sampling, and marine cone penetration test. Jack-up barges and crane barges will be used to carry out the soil investigation work. Tug boats will be used to shift jack-up barges and crane barges. The circular safety zone for the borehole drilling and marine cone penetration test are 50m and 150m respectively.

Self-Discharge Sand Carriers (SDSC) and Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) will discharge sand at the designated temporary area.

Dredging operations consist of Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD), Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) and grab dredger/ backhoe dredger mobilization to the working area, dredging of clayey/ sandy/ residual soils.

The reclamation works consist of transport and discharge of materials utilizing TSHD, CSD, flat top barges, hopper barges, and conveyor barges.

The work will also involve caisson installation.

Safety boats will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Marine Works inside Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter

For 3 months, marine works involving material filling and leveling [are being] carried out in the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (E) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 17.098’N / 114 deg. 11.000’E
(B) 22 deg. 17.107’N / 114 deg. 11.034’E
(C) 22 deg. 17.093’N / 114 deg. 11.080’E
(D) 22 deg. 17.056’N / 114 deg. 11.067’E
(E) 22 deg. 17.015’N / 114 deg. 11.099’E

The works [are being] carried out by a flotilla of vessels including five derrick barges, two hopper barges, four tugboats and two work boats. The number of vessels engaged in the works [changes] from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 15 metres around each barge [is] established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights [are] laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barges.

Silt curtains fitted with yellow flashing lights [are] established within the works area. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments.

The hours of work are from 0700 to 2300 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and Public Holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Port operations during end of Ramadan holiday
Monday, May 27, 2019, Turkey

Due to the four-day holiday marking the end of Ramadan from 3 to 7 June, all official institutions and banks in Turkey will be closed from during this period.

Some ports may suspend their operations over the holiday period or increase charges by 50% for official services such as pilotage, towage, mooring, customs, etc. A 50% surcharge will also apply to pilotage services for Turkish Straits transits between these dates.

You are therefore urged to check before arranging to call at any Turkish port during this period, and to make all arrangements for crew, spares, provision, etc in advance to ensure timely clearance and delivery.

GAC Turkey will be on duty during the holiday.

Public holiday for Swearing In ceremony

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday 29 May a public holiday for the Swearing in Ceremony.

Normal work will resume on Thursday 30 May.
