Around the island yacht race

A large-scale yacht race will take place around Hong Kong Island on 24 November 2019 (Sunday). About 250 yachts are expected to participate in the race.

The yachts will set off at staggered times between 0825 hours and 1100 hours off the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter, then sail around Hong Kong Island in a clockwise direction, and finish the race off the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter by 1800 hours.

Masters, coxswains and persons-in-charge of vessels navigating in the vicinity of the race route should proceed with caution, giving practical consideration to the contestants. Compliance with the provisions of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 is mandatory.

Replacement of lightning protection cable for cable car system
Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Singapore

On 20 and 21 November, work will be carried out to replace the lightning protection cable for the cable car system at Cruise Bay.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.116 of 2019 dated today (19 November), the work will be conducted between 0001 and 0600 hours on each day between the working line bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
A) 01 deg. 15.870’N / 103 deg. 49.120’E
B) 01 deg. 15.584’N / 103 deg. 49.088’E

Lightning protection cable replacement will be carried out from the cable car towers between HarbourFront and Sentosa Island. During the replacement work, the lightning protection cable for the cable car system will be lowered and maintained at a height of 45m above sea level.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Maintain a proper lookout;
b) Proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution;
c) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 5 (Cruise Bay Control);
and
d) Communicate with Cruise Bay Control on VHF Channel 5 for assistance, if required.
