ITF London’s lawyer, Tamara Pascual to address women members Indian maritime unions
London based International Transport Workers’ Federation lawyer, Ms Tamara Pascual will address women members of India’s leading maritime unions, National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) and The Maritime Union of India (MUI). These unions have jointly organized an exclusive workshop for their women members in exotic hill station of Lonavala in Maharashtra state of India. Over 100 women from all over India are expected to attend this women empowerment workshop.
Ms Tamara Pascual will grace this workshop as its Chief Guest and address over 100 women delegates on a variety of topics including legal rights of women employees, their obligations and duties at the work place, etc.
Mr Abdulgani Serang, General Secretary, NUSI, said: “We strongly support our Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s view that empowering a woman is equivalent to secure the future of the entire home. Our scheduled workshop in Lonavala will thus also educate the participating women delegates on many relevant issues like health, personal finance, education, etc.”
“I too believe that women’s empowerment is a key to securing the welfare of families. India cannot become a global economic power without active participation of women in the country’s growth trajectory. MUI is extremely honored to be the part of such a 2-day women empowerment workshop when the entire world is about to celebrate International Women’s Day soon,” said Mr Amar Singh Thakur, General Secretary, MUI.
Both maritime unions, NUSI and MUI continue to advocate an active involvement of women in union’s day-to-day operations. Also, women wings of both these unions conduct a series of welfare activities across India throughout the year.
