Jordan issues new tender to buy 120,000 tonnes wheat- trade

Jordan’s state grain buyer the trade ministry has issued an international tender to buy 120,000 tonnes of milling wheat which can be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Wednesday.

The tender deadline is Jan. 14.

A new tender had been expected after Jordan made no purchase in its previous wheat tender on Tuesday in which only two trading houses took part.

In the past few months Jordan has struggled to buy wheat and barley in tenders after changed terms for quality specifications and payment reduced participation by international trading houses.

The new tender seeks hard wheat for shipment in a range of possible combinations in 60,000 tonne consignments.

Shipment is sought between June 1-June 15, June 16-June 30, July 1-July 15 and July 16-July 31.
