Midstream Lighting announced as a finalist for the Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards
Midstream Lighting, a world leader in specialist lighting technology for crane and port lighting, has been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards in the Sustainable Business of the Year category. This underlines Midstream’s commitment to helping the maritime sector reduce its climate impact.
The Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards celebrates the success and innovation of UK businesses. Midstream will join other finalists to deliver a ‘Dragons Den’ style pitch in front of preeminent business leaders in September, before the award ceremony in November.
Midstream works closely with ports, terminals, and OEMs in the shipping sector to help them to implement safer, more efficient lighting that delivers significant carbon emissions savings and ecological benefits.
Maritime operators can achieve up to a 70% increase in energy efficiency with Midstream’s LED lighting solutions. Midstream’s lighting solutions also cut down on the environmental and ecological impacts associated with installation and waste, by delivering a longer service life and sustainable packaging where possible,
On a corporate level, Midstream Lighting is an ISO 14001 certified company and is one of the first companies in the world to sign the Climate Pledge – a commitment to reach net zero by 2040. This will be delivered by continued action to mitigate emissions throughout the supply chain, alongside plans to introduce carbon offsetting where supply chain emissions cannot be reasonably mitigated.
Mark Nailer, Head of Maritime at Midstream, said: “Sustainability is becoming a commercially important differentiator for ports, terminals and OEMs, and is increasingly tied to profits. Where lighting is only part of the decarbonisation picture, it is an essential part of the picture – and I am proud that Midstream is being recognised as an innovative and sustainable business”.
