In recognition of its commitment to “world-class” health, safety and environmental management standards, Milaha, Qatar’s leading Maritime and Logistics Service provider, has been awarded from the British Safety Council the prestigious “Sword of Honour” for a third consecutive year and the “Globe of Honour” for a second consecutive year.

Milaha has achieved in 2020 four Sword of Honour and four Globe of Honour awards for demonstrated health, safety and environmental excellence within corporate functions and business units, positioning the company amongst the top of the winners list worldwide.
Milaha constituted four of the seven “double” awards worldwide, as four of its units were able to achieve both, the “Sword of Honour” and the “Globe of Honour” awards.

This included:

• Milaha – Corporate Departments
• Milaha – Container Shipping
• Milaha – Gas and Petrochem
• Milaha Shipping Agencies

Milaha’s President and CEO, Mr. Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai said: “Operating on the highest International standards while effectively managing health, safety, environment and employees’ well-being, has always been our top priority objective at Milaha”.

“These prestigious awards won by Milaha demonstrates the Company’s unwavering commitment to maintaining sustainable assets, manpower, operations, resources and work environment, along with the continuous improvement of our health, safety and environmental management systems to reach a higher level than the benchmark industry average”, Al-Mannai added.

Lawrence Waterman, Chairman of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the Board of Trustees and staff of the British Safety Council I would like to congratulate Milaha on achieving the topmost standards of health, safety and environmental management. Accomplishing such distinction takes real commitment and professionalism. We are delighted to have supported you in your achievements in what has been an unprecedented year given the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, added: “I would like to congratulate Milaha and its staff for their steadfast dedication to keeping their workplace safe and healthy and minimising risks to the environment from their organisations’ day-to-day activities”.

In order to compete for these awards, an organisation had to achieve the maximum five stars in the British Safety Council’s health, safety, and environmental management audit scheme in the period August 2019 – November 2020. It must also demonstrate to an independent panel of experts, that it has achieved excellence in health, safety, and environmental management throughout the business, from the worksite to the boardroom.
