Orbyt Global has made a significant investment by acquiring OTESAT-Maritel, a subsidiary of the OTE Group
Orbyt Global has acquired OTESAT-Maritel, a subsidiary of the OTE Group, in a landmark move that strengthens its dominance in the maritime telecommunications sector. With the acquisition of OTESAT-Maritel, Orbyt Global significantly expands its portfolio and ranks among the top five providers worldwide, creating new strong hubs in the Middle Eastern and Asian markets. This consolidation strengthens Orbyt Global’s global presence and enhances its international customer base, establishing a new, strong, and reliable group. This group’s DNA combines Orbyt’s innovation and flexibility with the heritage of OTESAT, ensuring the three pillars of sustainability, reliability, and continuity.
Specifically, this is a substantial merger of the two companies. The integration of OTESAT-Maritel enhances Orbyt with highly experienced human resources, services, and products, contributing to the creation of a purely Greek group that aims to emerge as a global leader in maritime telecommunications and connectivity. OTESAT-Maritel’s clients will benefit from the synergies created, gaining access to digital and bridge products that were previously unavailable. The s@tgate platform of OTESAT-Maritel will be upgraded and enriched with new capabilities, while Orbyt Global’s Nexus Shark III platform will adopt some of the unique features of s@tgate. The goal is for both platforms to be strengthened and coexist, offering the most comprehensive package of solutions in the market and enhancing customer experience.
“The next day finds Orbyt Global and OTESAT-Maritel designing the future together on equal footing. Integrating OTESAT-Maritel into the group adds value through the experienced personnel and their invaluable knowledge, which will enhance and upgrade our services to clients. We are committed to continuous innovation, developing new products and pioneering solutions tailored to each client’s needs for efficient, sustainable, and secure maritime transport,” said Theodoros Nikolopoulos, Founder and CEO of Orbyt Global.
Since its founding in 2021, following its merger with Media Broadcast Satellite (MBS), Orbyt Global has emerged as a leading force in maritime connectivity. In 2024, it further expanded its global presence with the acquisition of Swedish Telenor Maritime, its partnership with FMC GlobalSat for Starlink services, and the agreement with Inmarsat Maritime Ventures for the transfer of customer contracts. Orbyt Global’s solutions not only offer reliable communication for ships but also drive the digital transformation of the maritime sector by providing telecommunications services, navigation, and fully digitized bridge systems. Orbyt Global maintains strategic partnerships with some of the most important companies in the maritime sector, having gained the trust of Greek shipowners as well as major shipping groups in Northern Europe and Asia, with more than 750 clients and a fleet of over 6,000 vessels.
