Panama Canal hikes draft allowance for Neopanamax locks thanks to rains

The Panama Canal authority said it would increase the maximum draft allowance for vessels passing through the Neopanamax locks thanks to the onset of rainy season which should boost the key freight channel’s depleted water levels.

The allowance has been increased to 45 feet (13.71 meters) effective immediately, the canal authorities said. The prior allowance was at 44 feet.
