Peninsula deal boosts SulNOx in super yachts

SulNOx, the green fueltech group active in shipping, has partnered with marine fuel and bunker services leader Peninsula to target the super yacht market.

The UK-listed company, which helps industry reduce emissions, lower fuel costs and meet sustainability targets, has kicked off the collaboration with an initiative in Gibraltar.

Peninsula will install a semi-automatic pumping system, for the appropriate dosing of SulNOxEcoTM diesel fuel conditioner to be applied, on the pier of its Gibraltar yacht terminal. The system pre-mixes marine fuels with the SulNOxEcoTM fuel conditioner, dispensing the dosed fuel directly from the Peninsula storage facility into each super yacht as it bunkers.

Approval was granted by the Gibraltar Port Authority to install the bespoke, pneumatic pumping system, manufactured exclusively to SulNOx’s specifications and believed to be the first of its kind anywhere in the world. Critically, it is APEX compliant, satisfying a set of EU regulations that are designed to ensure the safety of products being used in explosive environments.

Peninsula will promote SulNOxEcoTM fuel conditioner, which reduces fuel consumption and both greenhouse gas and particulate emissions, at major exhibitions in Monaco and Antwerp, followed by Barcelona in March 2025.

Commenting on the Pensinsula partnership, SulNOx CEO Ben Richardson said:

“For the first time, SulNOx has been pre-blended in large-scale marine bunkers, paving the way to swifter widespread adoption in the sector. We are delighted to be working with such a prestigious marine fuel partner as we expand our footprint in the marine sector. Whether we are supporting the luxury private market or commercial operators, SulNOx is committed to being part of the solution for a marine industry under pressure, helping to reduce emissions significantly, while delivering fuel cost savings and supporting participants to meet ESG and Regulatory goals.”

Chris Warde, Peninsula’s Head of Yacht Services, added:

“SulNOxEcoTM is an impressive and effective product with huge potential to help our super yacht customers cut fuel consumption and emissions. It also achieves greater engine reliability and cleanliness by improving combustion, emulsifying residual water, adding detergency and enhancing lubricity. We look forward to extending our partnership and offering some very compelling benefits to the industry.”
