Port Houston Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Approved
The Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority met on Tuesday for its annual Budget Workshop, during which it approved Port Houston’s $674 million operating budget and $396 million capital plan, to help guide staff in operating and managing facilities and activities for Fiscal Year 2025.
Port Houston, a strategic leader for the Houston Ship Channel for over a century, continues its commitment to drive regional development with the approval of the 2025 operating budget. The 2025 capital plan, which includes container capacity expansion and general cargo facility redevelopment work, and continued support for the Houston Ship Channel Expansion – Project 11 demonstrates its commitment to providing efficient growth opportunities for customers and stakeholders and expanding job opportunities throughout the local economy.
The Port Commission also approved the Strategic Plan – 2025 Update, which serves as a comprehensive roadmap guiding Port Houston’s growth and priorities into the future. It establishes direction for decision-making, resource allocation, and performance evaluation, fostering alignment and commitment to shared goals. A thorough and deliberative process involving Port Houston staff along with more than 165 stakeholders was involved in preparing it: Strategic Plan – 2025 Update.
In other matters, the Port Commission also approved tariff changes for 2025. These changes are designed to align with market conditions and promote reinvestment into Port Houston facilities, to add capacity and continue to drive regional economic activity and job creation, as well as provide for updated user safety measures.
The Port Commission will meet next on Tuesday, December 10.
