Russia’s Sakhalin 2 boosts LNG spot sales to China, Ifx says
Russia’s Sakhalin 2 plant has significantly increased spot sales of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to China, while the bulk of cargoes under long-term contracts is still supplied to Japan, Interfax (Ifx) news agency reported on Wednesday, citing the plant’s senior manager.
“We have increased supply of spot shipments to China. We maintain all our long-term contracts, so we continue to supply the bulk of our volumes to Japan,” Interfax cited Sakhalin Energy commercial director Andrei Okhotkin as saying.
According to the local administration, LNG production at Sakhalin 2 is expected to decline to 9.6 million metric tons this year from 10.4 million in 2023.
