S. Korea tops global shipbuilding orders in Nov. with 58% share

South Korean companies were number one in terms of worldwide shipbuilding orders for the second straight month in a row.
According to Clarkson Research Services, in November, the nation’s shipbuilders won more than half of all new orders in terms of compensated gross tonnage with a share of 58 percent.
China was runner-up at 35 percent.
Thanks to rising demand for massive LNG carriers, the contracts won by Korean firms last month averaged 1-hundred-23-million U.S. dollars per vessel.
That’s around 3-and-a-half times higher than China’s average.
