Shipping Markets Checkpoint Season 2 – Special Guest: Simon Ward

Shipping Markets Checkpoint is back for a second season called “Thinking out loud on what’s next for shipping”.
The first episode features special guest: Simon Ward, Director of Ship Sale & Purchase at Ursa Shipbrokers in Piraeus, Greece. Having started his career in Liverpool, he was a shipbroker with HSBC Shipping Services both in London, and then in Piraeus where he set up an office for the group. He has been with Ursa since 2013 and concentrates on dry bulk sale and purchase for his clients, and is a regular speaker and panellist at industry events. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, and lectures in Greece and London for them, as well as being a regular guest lecturer at the University of Piraeus, Athens University of Business and Economics, and City University of London.
Simon Ward joins Peter Sand, Chief Shipping Analyst at BIMCO, for an exciting hour of discussion and live Q&A on the SnP and Dry Bulk markets.
Featuring both macroeconomic perspectives with questions such as “Looking back at 2020 and putting the present into perspective, was this as expected – at any point in time?” and but also diving into the specific market of dry bulk with questions like “Should we worry or be cheerful about China entangling itself into multiple trade wars?”. The livestream will give the viewer insight into the short-term markets and a unique look into the experts forecast for the future.
