SHIPTEK 2024 Convenes Leaders in Dubai to initiate discussions on the future of the Maritime Industry

The leading maritime event, ShipTek 2024, concluded after two days of engaging discussions and honors recognizing organizations and professionals propelling the industry forward. The prestigious conference held from January 24-25, 2024 at JW Marriott Hotel, Marina brought together industry executives, policymakers, and experts to initiate thought-provoking discussions on the future of the maritime industry. H.E Eng Hessa Ahmed Hamdan Almalek, Executive Advisor to Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs, UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, delivered the Keynote address at the event. The Presidential Address was delivered by Sir Sohan Roy, Founder Chairman, Aries Group ; President, International Maritime Club.

Mr. Emanuele Grimaldi, veteran leader of the Grimaldi Group logistics conglomerate and Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping, captivated audiences during an interactive leadership session along with Sir Sohan Roy in the panel sharing insights from his decades of steering global shipping. This session was moderated by Mr. Peter Shaw-Smith, renowned journalist in the middle east. Panels drove conversations on pressing issues like new technologies, the COP28 climate summit, and strategies for maritime decarbonization. The UAE’s plans to develop as a hydrogen hub and implement green shipping initiatives were also discussed.

The event concluded with the prestigious ShipTek International Maritime Awards, recognizing leading organizations and professionals. His Excellency Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Kindi, Hon. Former Minister of Environment & Water Government of the UAE was the Chief guest for the award ceremony. ShipTek’s topmost honor The Lifetime Achievement Awards were bestowed upon industry veterans who over the course of their long career, have contributed to the well-being of the industry profoundly. Mr. Ali Jarwan – CEO, Dragon Oil was honored with ShipTek Lifetime Achievement award for Oil and Gas services, Mr. Rashid Isa Rishi AlHeddi, Director, Seamaster Maritime Group of companies was bestowed with ShipTek Lifetime Achievement award for Entrepreneurship and H.E Prof Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President Arab Academy was presented with the ShipTek Lifetime Achievement award for Maritime Academics. Under the category of Individual Awards Ms. Reem Abdullah Alkhowaiter was honored with the Young Woman Achiever of the Year and Dr. Anil Sharma, Founder & CEO, GMS was declared ShipTek – Maritime Personality of the Year
