Throughput of Russian seaports in 10M’2019 grew by 3.2% to 701.6 million tonnes of cargo

In January-October 2019, seaports of Russia handled 701.8 million tonnes of cargo (up 3.2%, year-on-year), says press center of the Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry cargo totaled 314.0 million tonnes (-3.5%) including 147.3 million tonnes of coal (+8.9%), 46.9 million tonnes of containerized cargo (+5.7%), 32.2 million tonnes of grain (-32.9%), 22.1 million tonnes of ferrous metal (-12.2%), 15.6 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers (+6.2%), 7.5 million tonnes of ore (+33.4%), 5.2 million tonnes of cargo carried by ferries (down 2.2 times), 4.3 million tonnes of timber (-6.5%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 387.6 million tonnes (+9.3%) in 232.5 million tonnes of crude oil (+10.7%), 123.6 million tonnes of oil products (+1.4%) and 27.0 million tonnes of liquefied gas (up 1.5 times).

Exports totaled 546.4 million tonnes (+5.4%), imports – 31.0 million tonnes (+3.5%), transit – 55.3 million tonnes (+5.0%), short-sea traffic – 68.9 million tonnes (-12.4%).

Operators of seaports in the Arctic Basin handled 87.4 million tonnes of cargo (+15.6%, year-on-year) including 26.3 million tonnes of dry cargo (+3.9%) and 61.1 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+21.5%). The port of Murmansk handled 51.6 million tonnes (+2.3%), Sabetta – 23.0 million tonnes (up 1.8 times), Varandey – 6.0 million tonnes (+4.0%), Arkhangelsk – 2.3 million tonnes (-4.1%).

Operators of seaports in the Baltic Basin handled 215.8 million tonnes (+5.2%) including 92.5 million tonnes of dry cargo (+2.3%) and 123.3 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+8.8%). The ort of Ust-Luga handled 87.5 million tonnes (+7.3%), Primorsk – 51.8 million tonnes (+16.7%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 50.0 million tonnes (+1.7%), Vysotsk – 16.2 million tonnes (+5.3%).

Operators of seaports in the Azov-Don Basin handled 214.5 million tonnes (-6.4%) including 80.0 million tonnes of dry cargo (-21.5%) and 134.5 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+5.6%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 130.2 million tonnes (+1.6%), Tuapse – 20.4 million tonnes (-5.1%), Kavkaz – 18.0 million tonnes (-32.7%), Rostov-on-Don – 13.5 million tonnes (-6.9%), Taman – 12.2 million tonnes (+5.1).

Operators of seaports in the Caspian Basin handled 6.1 million tonnes (up 1.5 times) including 3.8 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (up 2.2 times) and 2.3 million tonnes of dry cargo (+5.3%). The port of Makhachkala handled 3.8 million tonnes (up 1.8 times), Astrakhan – 1.8 million tonnes (+18.7%).

Operators of seaports in the Caspian Basin handled 177.7 million tonnes (+6.2%) including 112.8 million tonnes of dry cargo (+7.1%) and 64.9 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+4.8%). Port Vostochny handled 61.2 million tonnes (+5.2%), Vanino – 26.1 million tonnes (+7.3%), Nakhodka – 21.4 million tonnes (+4.8%), Vladivostok – 18.6 million tonnes (+6.7%), De-Kastri – 11.4 million tonnes (+11.2%), Posiet – 6.7 million tonnes (+11.3%), Prigorodnoye – 13.1 million tonnes (-6.2%).

Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
