Turkey tenders to buy about 400,000 tonnes wheat – trade

Turkey’s state grain board TMO has issued an international tender to purchase a total of about 400,000 tonnes of milling wheat, traders said on Monday.

The tender closes on Dec. 4, they said.

Shipment is requested in 2021 between Jan. 8 and Jan. 25.

Red milling wheat is sought in a series of consignments of 20,000 to 30,000 tonnes. The wheat is for unloading in the Turkish ports of Derince, Iskenderun, Mersin, Izmir, Bandirma, Tekirdag, Samsun and Trabzon.

Offers are sought for wheat with a minimum 12.5% to 13.5% protein content. The TMO reserves the right to buy up to 5% more or less than the tender volume at its own discretion, they said.

Offers can be made in U.S. dollars, Russian roubles or Turkish lira.

The tender continues an active period of grain importing by Turkey to cool local prices and support the country’s large flour export programme.

In its last reported wheat tender on Nov. 11, the TMO purchased 550,000 tonnes.
