U.S. crude oil inventories down: API

The American Petroleum Institute (API) on Tuesday reported a decrease of 3.835 million barrels of crude oil in U.S. inventories for the week ending March 3.

Analysts expected a drop of 0.308 million barrels for this week.

The API reported a surge of 6.203 million barrels in the previous week.

U.S. oil prices dropped on Tuesday.

The West Texas Intermediate for April delivery dropped 2.88 U.S. dollars to settle at 77.58 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
