U.S. oil and gas rig count falls for first week in five -Baker Hughes

U.S. energy firms this week cut the number of oil and natural gas rigs operating for the first time in five weeks even though increases in oil prices have prompted drillers to add rigs for 13 months in a row.

The U.S. oil and gas rig count, an early indicator of future output, fell by 11 to 497 in the week to Sept. 3, energy services firm Baker Hughes Co BKR.N said in its closely followed report on Friday.
