Ukraine barley exports seen at 200,000 T in October, producers’ union says

Ukraine exported 207,000 metric tons of barley in September and is likely to maintain these volumes in October, Ukrainian farm producers union UAC said on Wednesday.
Ukraine is a traditional barley grower and exporter.
UAC said in a statement that Ukrainian barley remained in some demand on international markets, with 160,000 tons already contracted for October.
“In October, we expect barley exports of about 200,000 tons. The key export destinations are Turkey, Greece, Italy, Algeria and Morocco,” UAC said.
The union said barley prices had started to move up due to the growing demand for feed crops, in particular corn and wheat.
Ukrainian agriculture ministry says farmers have almost completed the 2024 barley harvest, threshing 5.54 million tons from almost 99% of the sown area.
