US Plains HRW Wheat-Wheat bids mostly steady amid ongoing harvest

Spot basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat remained mostly steady on Friday as farmers turned their attention to a harvest that is well underway in large swathes of the U.S. Plains.
The basis bid increased by 5 cents at a terminal in Newton, Kansas.
Dealers and traders are awaiting Monday’s U.S. Department of Agriculture crop progress report, which will assess condition ratings and harvest progress for the country’s hard red winter wheat crop.
The previous week’s USDA report showed the wheat harvest is gaining steam.
Protein premiums for HRW wheat shipped by rail to or through Kansas City were unchanged on Friday.
K.C. July HRW wheat KWN24 futures were down 8-1/2 cents at $6.28-3/4 a bushel at midday.
