Valenciaport promotes its sustainable infrastructures and decarbonisation projects at Asia’s most important logistics fair

The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) will have a telematic presence at the China International Logistics and Supply Chain Fair held in Shenzhen.

The PAV will explain its green port projects such as the new north terminal, the solar panel installations and the construction of a new electrical substation.

Valenciaport continues with its promotional activity at upcoming events in the logistics, port and tourism sectors. In October it will also take part in Fruit Attraction and the CONXEMAR frozen products fair.

The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) will be present at the main logistics and transport fair on the Asian continent, China International Logistics and Supply Chain Fair (CILF 2021), which will be held from 23 to 25 September in the city of Shenzhen. The PAV will present its greenport projects at this event as part of its Valenciaport 2030, zero emissions objective.

The new container terminal to be in the sheltered waters of the northern extension inaugurated in 2012 is one of the projects to be explained at CILF 2021, an example of infrastructure that combines sustainability and growth. The new terminal will be a space that will minimise CO2 emissions by supplying electricity to cranes and machinery, and to docked ships. The project presented by TIL to Valenciaport contemplates the electrification of 98% of the driving components and installations, and in addition, 100% of the electricity will come from renewable sources, which will imply a 98% reduction in CO2 emissions. It will also develop a railway terminal equipped with six 1,000-metre-long tracks, with the capacity to move 305,000 TEUs/year by rail.

Specifically, the head of Commercial and Clients of the PAV, Cristina Rodríguez, will take part in a telematic presentation to explain this and other projects of Valenciaport in a conference in which other ports such as Yantian, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg, Barcelona, Gdansk, Vancouver, Riga or Bruges will also take part.

Valenciaport will also present at the Shenzhen event the actions it is developing in its commitment to the fight against climate change and decarbonisation with initiatives such as the construction of the electrical substation for the connection of ships docked in port to the grid, the installation of photovoltaic panels in the ports of València and Gandia, the implementation of hydrogen projects in port facilities and machinery, or the location of wind turbines for the generation of electricity in the port area of Valencia.

In addition, during the CILF, the PAV will sign its adhesion to the Shenzhen Declaration, an agreement to promote cooperation between the international port community in innovation, development of smart ports and to promote a joint port and maritime transport ecosystem.

Presence at the main events

Valenciaport thus continues its promotional activity at the main world events of the logistics, port and tourism sector to present the innovations and services of the Valencian ports to its customers and specifiers. The APV has adapted its promotional and marketing tools to the virtual format. Hence, ad hoc presentations and digital content are being produced for events and interlocutors interested in the Valencian ports.

This format is combined with a physical presence at other events such as the Mediterranean Ports and Shipping 2021 conference which will bring together port and international logistics experts in Valencia from 5 to 7 October to analyse the challenges and opportunities for the sector. Valenciaport will also be present in October at the International Frozen Seafood Products Fair (CONXEMAR) to be held in Vigo and at Fruit Atrraction, the International Fruit and Vegetable Trade Fair to be hosted by IFEMA in Madrid.
