Zeebrugge Grows By 11.1% After 3 Quarters
The total roro traffic in Zeebrugge grew by 4.6 % to a volume of 12,399,165 tonnes. The traffic on the UK decreased by 2.1%. The traffic on Ireland increased by 4.7%. Scandinavia decreased by 2.7%. A strong growth was registered on Southern Europe (Spain).
A total volume of 2,199,833 new vehicles was handled, which constitutes a 5.1% rise.
The container traffic grew by 2.1% to a volume of 11,767,903 tonnes. The effect of the new deepsea container services and feeder services takes shape in the second half of the year. In September the container traffic rose by 17.9%.
The total liquid bulk grew by 54.6% to 7,318,184 tonnes. A considerable growth was registered for the liquefied natural gas (4.9 million tonnes).
The conventional cargo dropped by 11.4% to 687,186 tonnes (less paper/cardboard and wood pulp).
The solid bulk grew by 4.1% to 967,745 tonnes (growth in fodder).
A total of 122 cruise vessels called at Zeebrugge in comparison to 112 in the same period last year. These calls accounted for 588,741 cruisepassenger moves.
The port labour grew by 2.6% to 269,223 shifts.
The total cargo throughput after 3 quarters amounted to 33,140,183 tonnes.
