OOIL Listed in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition) 2023 and Ranked as “Top 1% S&P Global ESG Score (Chinese Corporate)”

Orient Overseas (International) Limited, the parent company of Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) and OOCL Logistics, has been listed in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition) 2023, and is ranked as being in the “Top 1% S&P Global ESG Score (Chinese Corporate)” in its industry.

The international version of S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook was first published in 2008, but this is the first time that S&P Global has published a China edition. The S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook aims to distinguish those companies within their industries that have each demonstrated strengths in corporate sustainability. Following the growing interest from Chinese companies in sustainability strategies and topics in recent years, a China edition is published for Chinese companies to benchmark their performance with their local peers.

The companies listed in the Yearbook are selected on the basis of the results of a Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), an annual integrated assessment of governance & economic, environmental, and social criteria with a strong focus on long-term shareholder value. Around 1,600 Chinese companies from 60 industries in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau that have participated in the 2022 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) entered the selection scope of this yearbook, 88 outstanding companies from 44 industries were selected into the Sustainability Yearbook 2023 (China Edition). OOIL has been awarded the ranking of “Top 1% S&P Global ESG Score (Chinese Corporate)” in the transportation and infrastructure category, which means OOIL’s ESG score is within 1% of the industry’s highest score.

Inclusion in the S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition) 2023 is clear and valuable recognition of OOIL’s outstanding performance in environmental, social, and governance practices and in ESG disclosures. The group will continue to take a leadership role in advancing sustainability and to place ESG at the core of the Group’s value.
