Ukraine sows 2 mln hectares of 2024 crops so far, ministry says

Ukrainian farmers have sown more than 2 million hectares of spring crops so far, including 748,700 hectares of corn, the farm ministry said on Friday.

Ministry data showed that 741,500 hectares of spring barley, 204,700 hectares of spring wheat, 136,600 hectares of oats and 157,000 hectares of peas have been sown.

Farmers also sowed almost 1.4 million hectares of sunflower, 116,300 hectares of soybeans and 223,700 hectares of sugar beet.

The ministry did not provide data for year-on-year comparison.

Ukraine’s average grain yield is likely to decline by 4% to 5% in 2024, the ministry said in March.
